Nevada FAFSA deadlineApr 1, 2027
Nevada Promise Scholarship applicants must file the 2027–28 FAFSA by April 1, 2027 (or a Non-FAFSA Filer Declaration if ineligible for the FAFSA) and complete separate Promise steps at their community college. The Silver State Opportunity Grant is awarded first-come after October 1, 2026 while funds last — file ASAP for that path.

Nevada: what to do, step by step
- 1
Create StudentAid.gov accounts — student and parent
The student and one parent each need their own account to sign the FAFSA. Identity verification can take a few days, so do this first.
- 2
File the FAFSA by April 1, 2027 (Promise)
Promise requires the 2027–28 FAFSA by April 1. If you cannot file the FAFSA, submit your college's Non-FAFSA Filer Declaration by the same date.
- 3
Complete campus Promise requirements
Apply for Promise, finish orientation/training, mentoring, and community service on your college's published calendar — dates vary by campus.

Check college dates, then set a filing reminder
Your real deadline is the earliest of: Promise's April 1 FAFSA date, any earlier Promise campus step, Silver State ASAP filing, or a college priority date. Set a reminder for that date now.
.ics includes state + federal deadlines with 30 / 14 / 7-day reminders.

When a reminder arrives: finish filing
That email or calendar alert means the deadline is close. Finish the FAFSA and remaining Promise steps, then confirm enrollment plans. Then you're done until aid posts.

What Nevada applicants need to know
- Promise is last-dollar community-college aid with many campus deadlines (application, mentoring, service hours) in addition to the April 1 FAFSA date.
- Silver State Opportunity Grant: FSA says submit ASAP after October 1, 2026 until funds run out — no single hard statewide date.
- Check your NSHE community college Promise checklist; missing any step can cancel eligibility even if the FAFSA is on time.
Watch out
April 1 is only one Promise checkpoint. Families who file the FAFSA but skip mentoring or service hours still lose the scholarship.
