Missouri FAFSA deadlineFeb 1, 2027
Missouri sets February 1 as the Access Missouri priority deadline. Eligible students who file the FAFSA by that date are generally guaranteed an award. Applications are still accepted through April 1 — after that, you are not considered for Access Missouri.

Missouri: what to do, step by step
- 1
Create StudentAid.gov accounts — student and parent
The student and one parent each need their own account to sign the FAFSA. Identity verification can take a few days, so do this first.
- 2
File the FAFSA by February 1, 2027
One form covers federal aid and Access Missouri. Filing by February 1 gives priority consideration — eligible students who meet that date are generally guaranteed an award. You can still file through April 1, subject to funding rules after the priority date.
- 3
Confirm Access Missouri status with MDHEWD
Missouri pulls your FAFSA electronically. Use the Student Portal to check eligibility, and contact your school or MDHEWD if something looks wrong.
- 4
Check college dates, then set a filing reminder
Your real deadline is the earliest of: Missouri's February 1 Access Missouri priority date, the April 1 final date, or any earlier date a college on your list sets. Set a reminder for that date now — email or calendar — so you get nudged before it hits.
.ics includes state + federal deadlines with 30 / 14 / 7-day reminders.
- 5
When a reminder arrives: finish filing
That email or calendar alert means the deadline is close. Finish (or fix) your FAFSA, submit it, and confirm each college on your list got it. Then you're done until aid offers arrive.

What Missouri applicants need to know
- There is no separate Access Missouri application — MDHEWD uses your FAFSA. File by February 1 for priority (guaranteed award if eligible); the final deadline is April 1.
- Check each college on your list: schools may set earlier institutional dates for their own aid packages.
- After you file, monitor eligibility in the MDHEWD Student Portal and keep your FAFSA accurate through the correction window.
Watch out
February 1 is one of the earliest major state priority deadlines after Texas. Missing it can still leave April 1 — but waiting past April 1 means no Access Missouri for the year.
