Idaho FAFSA deadlineMar 1, 2027

This page is scoped to the Idaho Opportunity Scholarship — not a catch-all statewide grant deadline. For 2027–28, Next Steps Idaho / Scholarship Idaho list March 1, 2027 for both the FAFSA and the Opportunity application. Other Idaho aid may differ; check your college.

Idaho: what to do, step by step

  1. 1

Create StudentAid.gov accounts — student and parent

The student and one parent each need their own account to sign the FAFSA. Identity verification can take a few days, so do this first.

    Create accounts at StudentAid.gov →

  2. 2

File the FAFSA by March 1, 2027 (Opportunity Scholarship)

Opportunity Scholarship requires a complete FAFSA by March 1. File earlier when you can so verification issues do not push you past the close.

Start the FAFSA at StudentAid.gov →

  3. 3

Submit the Scholarship Idaho Opportunity application by March 1

The state app closes March 1 as well. Confirm eligibility (Idaho residency, ~2.7 GPA, eligible school) on Next Steps Idaho before you submit.

  4. 4

Check college dates, then set a filing reminder

Your real deadline is the earliest of: Opportunity’s March 1 FAFSA/app date, or any earlier college date. Set a reminder for that date now.

    .ics includes state + federal deadlines with 30 / 14 / 7-day reminders.

  5. 5

When a reminder arrives: finish filing

That email or calendar alert means it is time to act. Finish (or fix) your FAFSA, submit it, and confirm each college on your list got it. Then you're done until aid offers arrive.

What Idaho applicants need to know

  • Program-scoped: March 1 is the Opportunity Scholarship story (FAFSA + Scholarship Idaho app). It is not a guarantee of every Idaho campus deadline.
  • Apply through Scholarship Idaho; you generally choose Opportunity or LAUNCH, not both.
  • FAFSA must be complete and verified — a late or missing FAFSA can block the scholarship even if the state app is in.

Watch out

This is an Opportunity Scholarship page, not a fake statewide hard deadline for every Idaho student. Confirm other programs with your school.
