Florida FAFSA deadlineMay 15, 2027

May 15, 2027 is Florida's statewide FAFSA date (date processed) on the federal list. Many OSFA scholarships also require an error-free FAFSA processed by May 15 — and often a separate Florida Financial Aid Application with an earlier April 1 deadline. Always check your college's own processing deadline.

Florida: what to do, step by step

  1. 1

Create StudentAid.gov accounts — student and parent

The student and one parent each need their own account to sign the FAFSA. Identity verification can take a few days, so do this first.

    Create accounts at StudentAid.gov →

  2. 2

File the FAFSA early enough for May 15, 2027 processing

Florida's listed deadline is May 15 (date processed). Submit early so any corrections clear before that date. Check each college for its own FSAG / institutional cutoff.

  3. 3

Complete the Florida Financial Aid Application if needed

Scholarships such as Rosewood, Ocoee, and Farmworker Student Scholarship use the FFAA (often April 1) plus a FAFSA processed by May 15. Review OSFA fact sheets for the programs you want.

  4. 4

Check college dates, then set a filing reminder

Your real deadline is the earliest of: Florida's May 15 processed date, any April 1 FFAA date, or a college's own date. Set a reminder for that date now — email or calendar — so you get nudged before it hits.

    .ics includes state + federal deadlines with 30 / 14 / 7-day reminders.

  5. 5

When a reminder arrives: finish filing

That email or calendar alert means the deadline is close. Finish the FAFSA (and FFAA if required), fix errors, and confirm each college on your list. Then you're done until aid offers arrive.

What Florida applicants need to know

  • Aim for May 15 processed — file early enough for corrections so the federal processor finishes by that date.
  • Many Florida scholarships need the Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA) by April 1 in addition to the FAFSA.
  • FSAG eligibility is determined at your school using FAFSA results — contact each college's financial aid office.

Watch out

May 15 is date processed, not date submitted — last-week filings with errors often miss Florida's window.
