FAFSA 2027-28 · Connecticut

Connecticut FAFSA deadlineFeb 15, 2027

Connecticut sets February 15 as the priority FAFSA date for state aid consideration — including the Roberta B. Willis Scholarship, which also needs a counselor-submitted application by that date. Additional forms may be required depending on the program.

Connecticut: what to do, step by step

  1. 1

Create StudentAid.gov accounts — student and parent

The student and one parent each need their own account to sign the FAFSA. Identity verification can take a few days, so do this first.

    Create accounts at StudentAid.gov →

  2. 2

File the FAFSA by February 15, 2027

Connecticut's priority date is February 15 (midnight Central time on the federal list). File by then for priority consideration for state aid, including programs that use the FAFSA for eligibility.

  3. 3

    Complete any Connecticut program forms

Some awards — like Roberta B. Willis — need a separate counselor application in addition to the FAFSA. Ask your counselor and check OHE program pages so nothing is missing by February 15.

  4. 4

Check college dates, then set a filing reminder

Your real deadline is the earliest of: Connecticut's February 15 priority date, or any earlier date a college on your list sets for its own aid. Set a reminder for that date now — email or calendar — so you get nudged before it hits.

    .ics includes state + federal deadlines with 30 / 14 / 7-day reminders.

  5. 5

When a reminder arrives: finish filing

That email or calendar alert means the deadline is close. Finish (or fix) your FAFSA, submit any Connecticut forms, and confirm each college on your list got everything. Then you're done until aid offers arrive.

What Connecticut applicants need to know

  • For the Roberta B. Willis Need-Merit Scholarship, both the FAFSA and a counselor-submitted application must be in by February 15.
  • You may need forms beyond the FAFSA for some Connecticut aid — check the Office of Higher Education and each college on your list.
  • Filing after February 15 does not block federal aid, but you can miss priority consideration for Connecticut state programs.

Watch out

February 15 is early — and for Willis, the FAFSA alone is not enough if your counselor never submits the scholarship application.
