FAFSA 2027-28 · Alaska

Alaska FAFSA deadlineJun 30, 2027

For priority consideration for the Alaska Performance Scholarship, submit the FAFSA by June 30, 2027 (or the APS Alternative Application by June 30 for non-Title IV schools). Awards continue while funds last. The Alaska Education Grant is first-come after October 1, 2026 until funds run out.

Alaska: what to do, step by step

  1. 1

Create StudentAid.gov accounts — student and parent

The student and one parent each need their own account to sign the FAFSA. Identity verification can take a few days, so do this first.

    Create accounts at StudentAid.gov →

  2. 2

File the FAFSA by June 30, 2027 for APS priority

June 30 is ACPE's priority FAFSA date for APS awarding. File earlier when possible — funds are limited and Education Grant awards start depleting after October 1.

Start the FAFSA at StudentAid.gov →

  3. 3

Confirm APS status in ASAP / with ACPE

Monitor eligibility in the Alaska Student Aid Portal and make sure your school knows you plan to use APS before enrollment certification deadlines.

  4. 4

Check college dates, then set a filing reminder

Your real deadline is the earliest of: APS June 30 priority, Education Grant ASAP filing, or any earlier college date. Set a reminder for that date now.

    .ics includes state + federal deadlines with 30 / 14 / 7-day reminders.

  5. 5

When a reminder arrives: finish filing

That email or calendar alert means the deadline is close. Finish the FAFSA (or APS Alternative Application), then confirm with your Alaska school. Then you're done until aid offers arrive.

What Alaska applicants need to know

  • APS eligibility starts in high school (curriculum + GPA or test scores). Create an ASAP account to monitor status after graduation reporting.
  • List an eligible Alaska institution on the FAFSA, or use the APS Alternative Application for non-Title IV providers.
  • Education Grant: file ASAP after October 1 — no single hard date beyond funds remaining.

Watch out

APS curriculum eligibility is decided in high school — a June 30 FAFSA cannot fix a missing course path. Plan APS coursework early.
